I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For Scream

There’s a really well known 90s movie about a serial killer with a mask targeting a bunch of high school kids in a popular clique.  Sound not-too-original? Actually it’s not, but it’s one of the better known horror movies in the United States.  This movie has recently been turned in to a TV show put on by MTV and Netflix.  Do I think you’ll think it’s cool?  Maybe…

Scream, the TV show, is a story about a high school student named Emma and her popular friends.  Emma’s world comes crashing down the day she hears that her most manipulative and popular friend was murdered.  Shortly after learning of the news, Emma starts getting creepy phone calls and seeing a person in a mask and black cloak around town.  With the help of some old friends and her present friends, Emma decides to get to the bottom of it.  In the small town of Lakewood, not many survive the killer’s wrath.

Scream is actually a decent enough remake.  The original movie was pretty good, but its sequels were questionable.  The same could be said about certain episodes of Scream the TV show, but if you’re a horror fan, you just might enjoy this show.  It reminded me a lot of Pretty Little Liars, so is it intense horror?  Probably not.  It’s a lot of suspense and jumpy scenes.  But for whatever reason, maybe it’s just a guilty pleasure, it still works as a thriller with a lot of gore.

Would I watch this show continuously for seven seasons if it were to ever go that long?  No way.  It’s pretty cheesy sometimes and it has only been two seasons. But for right now, the storyline seems pretty solid.  High school students might enjoy it the most, but I liked it, especially for this time of the year.

What do you think?  Does Scream live up to the original?  Did you even think the original was any good?  Let me know in the comments.

Have a great weekend lovelies!

P.S. Thanks readers for putting up with my absence for the past few weeks.  I’ve been in Europe, but I’m back now!
